On the northeast corner of 12th St and Roosevelt, nestled in the historic Garfield neighborhood downtown, you will find The Alwun House. The house is a unique 4-corner bungalow design, built in 1912. It’s easy to spot for two reasons. The first is that it’s cantaloupe colored with purple window trim, and thus very bright. The second is that it’s the only two-story house on the block.
I went to the Alwun house one afternoon to see the art show there called The Monsters’ Menagerie. I am far from an art critic,
The Arizona Songwriters brings in people from various fields in the music industry to critique artist’s work. It also serves as a sort of support group for valley songwriters. Watching them socialize, I saw them renewing their passion for their music by talking to fellow writers and getting excited about what they do. Every year they hold an annual gathering at Encanto Park. This year is will be an all-day event January 22, 2005. To find out more, you can e-mail Jon Iger at azfolk@aol.com
