On Saturday May 29th a gathering of musicians, artists, and promoters swarmed the street in front of Alice Cooper'stown for The Big Picture. Leslie Criger and JulieAnn Chazotte from A.M.P Entertainment organized this amazing event. Their idea was to have an all-day block party, with a picture of the crowd at 4:30pm. This picture was intended to prove a point. Leslie told me “There is just so much culture in Phoenix and we wanted to show that to people. We wanted to make a noise that everyone would hear.” And they did. The Picture (featured on the cover this month) does exactly what it was intended to do; it displays the culture of the valley for all to see.                            ...continue >
Although I didn't write an article about it this month, the Phoenix art walk is still going on every first Friday. If I haven't convinced you yet that Phoenix has culture, go downtown for first Friday and check it out. There is so much to enjoy, from galleries to bands and artists. And again, thanks to Michael Mattingly from the houses at 7th st and Fillmore for not only revitalizing downtown culture, but helping bands throughout the valley to   record CD's and get their names out.
