An Interview with Danger Team 7

I met Matt, the lead singer of Danger Team 7, back in 2003. I befriended and then introduced him to Mindless Self-Indulgence and Happy Tree Friends. A year and a half later, I find him in a, as he would say, "crap-ska" band. Honestly, this band shocks me, I HAD to do an interview with them. But if any of you have ever gone to a MSI show, this band is their ska-spawn. This is Danger Team 7:
Matt: Vocals
Josh: Lead guitar and back up vocals
Rob: Rhythm guitar
Dave: Trumpet
Kory: Little drummer boy
Lucus: Tromboner
Andrew: Bass
Let's start with the basic questions, how long have you guys been a part of DT7?
Matthew: I just joined in like March.
Josh: Since 2002.
Rob: Sure.
Dave: I don't know. Like, 4 months.
How did you form/join DT7?
Matthew: I went on the internet and found the first ad for a singer and joined. Honestly, I HATE ska.
Josh: I was bored so me and Kory made magic or something.
Rob: I gots the hook-ups.
Dave: We were sitting at Tacos Pepe and everyone was like, "We need a trumpet player," and I was all like, "I play," then they were all like, "How long?" And I was all, "9 years." Then, Kory gave me a trumpet and the rest is history.
How did you get the name Danger Team 7?
Matthew: Don't know, but it sounds like a 12 year old boy made it up.
Josh: We went through a crap load of names. It's random, I guess.
Rob: Our name? Danger Team 7? It sucks and it's way to late to change it.
Dave: I got suckered into this band and they had the name.
If you could form an ultimate super band, what would the line-up be?
Matthew: George Bush! Hell yeah!
Josh: Spider-man. Yeah, Spider-man. He'd be awesome on guitar.
Rob: Jesus as the lead singer.
Matt: 12 George Bush's. We'll clone them.
Dave: That would be sweet.
What do you think of all the local scenes?
Matthew: Uuuhhh... I like the kids that go to our show and dance.
Josh: I think it SUCKS!
(There is only silence from Rob)
Dave: I think it had been dying but it seems as though it's coming back
How do you plan to differ from the other ska bands?
Matthew: I like to make everyone in the audience a part of our show.
Josh: Because we have the most fun.
Rob: 'Cause we are a team of 7. A "danger" team of 7.
Dave: I think we are all pretty close. We really just play for fun. Our singer is completely nuts.
What is your favorite song to play on stage?
Matthew: Rok Noz.
Josh: Rok Noz.
Rob: Umm, that one about stuff.
Dave: I like Love and Abercrombie. Err... uhhh, Love and Zombies.
Do you have a CD or Demo out?
Matthew: We are recording a CD right now. Well, not right now.
Josh: Yes, a 4 song EP will be done in October.
Rob: Yeah, I'm sure one of the others said it already.

Do you guys have a favorite local band?
Matthew: MSI! Wait, local? Umm is Enya? Oh ok, Dora maar! Holla Zack!
Josh: Workshirt Wonder.
Rob: Danger Team 7.
Dave: Locking Your Car Doors.
They say there's a price for fame. What's yours?
Matthew: I just want fans to bake me muffins.
Josh: 6 million dollar contract.
Rob: Yeah, that's right! ALL the tea!
Dave: 6 bucks and 7 cents.
What's your favorite venue to play at?
Matthew: Apache Junction High School.
Josh: The Paper Heart Gallery.
Rob: The Paper Heart Gallery.
Dave: I like The Paper Heart Gallery and the Old Brickhouse.
What bands have you guys played with?
Josh: Forces of Evil, I Voted For Kodos.
Rob: I'm Rob.
Dave: Fancy Pants, Workshirt Wonder, I Voted For Kodos.
How do you describe your music?
Matthew: Take a dash pf ska, a pinch of rock, a fat slice of crap, and two whole-wheat pieces of justice, you get DT7.
Josh: Thrash Metal with horns.
Rob: It’s like, when you, ya know, and it's sooo nice.
Dave: Honestly, it's crap, but the kids seem to love it
What are your plans for the future?
Matthew: Just to entertain the nice folk of Arizona and, then, the world!
Josh: To be the biggest, most popular ska band ever, bigger then Reel Big Fish.
Rob: To make some more music.
Dave: Play more shows.
What are you guys afraid of?
Matthew: Cockroaches. They are dirty.
Josh: Reel big fish. Hahahaha.
Rob: Matt is pretty freaky.
Dave: Kory and his homoeroticness.
What is your daytime job?
Matthew: I throw bags at the airport.
Josh: I'm a bag boy at Albertson’s stuffing bags.
Rob: Work?! Haha! My parents give me money to buy bags with.
Dave: I'm a dock worker.
Matthew: You're a dock worker?! Where the hell is a dock in Arizona?
What do you love most about DT7?
Matthew: The crowds we bring in.
Josh: Stuff.
Rob: Love? What is love?
Dave: The shows.
What do you do in your spare time?
Matthew: I look at www.dangerteam7.com.
Josh: Stuff.
Rob: DT7.
Dave: I'm a dock worker.
If you could make sweet lovin' to one of your band mates, who would it be?
Matthew: Kory.
Josh: Defiantly Kory.
Rob: I'd have to say Kory.
Dave: Kory.
